Can anyone help me with the decision of whether or not to take a Girl Scout troop to see this? Went to Shrek last year and loved it - thought Addams Family would be fun for this year. I am concerned about appropriateness for 10 year olds based on the comments regarding sexual content. Don't want a lot of angry moms after the show! Is there a scene where Fester is inappropriate with a ball? That was posted somewhere else online. Thanks.

Really disappointing show on Friday 2/11/11. Nathan Lane was absent and there was no announcement or signs indicating this. Bebe was on vacation, and again, no announcement on the website. The show really suffered and my party of 6 did not enjoy it. The theater handled it terribly.

Saw the show twice so far. Once in May and again in June the day before the Tony Awards.

Both times were so very different. The first time, I had seats in the very last row in orch. And the 2nd time I had first row center. Needless to say, the 2nd time was better because being able to see facial expressions is the main key. For instance, when Gomez is at the table trying to make Morticia laugh, that scene has to be my favorite! Bebe does not crack a smile once! THAT is fine acting because Nathan is just too funny and goes on with it for a good 2 minutes. Anyway, I really enjoyed all of the performances. Krysta really stands out. The show runs so smoothly. I happen to love Gomez's song "Happy Sad." The words are very touching and memorable.. I left the first time actually remembering the words to the songs when I didn't own the CD yet.

Stage door is great. Nathan Lane does not come out. For anyone at anytime. That's just his way I guess. Bebe mostly comes out at night after the eve shows. I didn't get to meet her the first time, but did the 2nd and she was lovely. That next day, I was fortunate enough to attend the Tony awards and it was a complete surprise when Nathan & Bebe walked out to present. Nobody knew and I was excited. Also during a commercial, Jackie Hoffman came out to read a funny excerpt from "Celebrity Autobiography." It was funny and she was also a surprise! To bad they didn't air it.

So I'm hoping I get to go back a few more times. To be honest, I don't think the show would be as great without Nathan and Bebe but I am open to seeing understudies if I ever have to. I wouldn't not go if they were out because I enjoy the show that much.

We saw the show over the summer. We all loved it! Our daughter has now seen it 3 times, and seeing we live in California I think that says something!
You are in for a fun night if you choose to see the Addams Family!

I've had the happy experience of seeing this show 12 times--either repeats with some of my own children or out of town visitors ask if Mr. Nathan Lane is on stage anywhere. It always is well received by my family/friends but have to say that Mr. Lane is absolutely the main attraction. I remember reading a review of one of his play's, this is years back, and the critic wrote, 'Nathan Lane is the reason for the evening.' Addams Family is a sweet and fun show, but Nathan Lane really delivers the goods. He is sui generis and Broadway shines brighter when he's here.

We saw The Addams Family on Saturday & both loved it. The performances by Nathan Lane & Bebe Neuwirth were amazing. Thought that the performances from Wednesday & Uncle Fester were also very good. Liked the music so much that I bought the score afterwards. Was surprised to like this musical as much as we did given the so so reviews. Totally enjoyed it, an up to date Addams Family revue. Relax, enjoy, have a good time.

I saw the show twice, Tuesday Aug. 25th, and again Wednesday August 26th. I thought Merwin Foard was an Excellent Gomez and interacted with all characters perfectly. That's what one would expect of any Broadway Production. Being that the show is at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater was especially special, having grown up so close to the Lunt-Fontanne home, Ten chimneys, in Genness depot Wisconsin. I love the theater decor in the lounge, so much history!

I went to see The ADDAMS FAMILY mainly because I am a big fan of Lilith, and I expected exquisite perfection and timing from Ms. Neuwirth as Morticia Addams. Boy, did she deliver! I love her interpretation of Morticia, she delivers with such dead pan expression and cold chilling wit. I just had to return the next day to see it one more time, before I headed back to Milwaukee.

Merwin Foard was a debonair Gomez to the hilt! I caught the Preview tour in Chicago months ago, and was surprised by some of the changes, but it all seems to come together and deliver what I expect, ENTERTAINMENT!
I hope the show has a nice long run, it's got a great cast, music and lives up to the ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES instilled in the characters by their creator, Charles Addams. BRAVO!!!!

Wow, I'm surprised that Lane was out on the 19th, when he has a scheduled vacation the following week. Did they advertise that he would be out, or offer to exchange tickets for another night?

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. I have to wonder if it would have been totally different if you weren't so disappointed about Lane. I've heard (especially on this blog) that his sub is excellent. He'll be on all next week, so I guess we'll find out from others.

The characters definitely need work. Unfortunately, the night we went, Nathan Lane did not appear...it was super distracting to wonder how he would have delivered that line, sang that song, etc. I was sooooo disappointed! I don't know if my dislike for the play was due to my distraction/disappointment or due to the dullness of some of the songs. I drifted away several times and found myself wishing the show would hurry up and end. Lurch...too silly from the beginning. Grandmama...how about we call her "Grandmama" and not Gramma? She was cute, but some of the jokes were predictable. Gomez...he's a New York business man...what's with the accent? Gomez's understudy...this is a pop culture piece...tone down the dramatic voice and overly-concerned eyebrows. And how about smiling once? Gomez is a happy dad and very loving husband. The reason Nathan Lane makes this production work has to be his uniqueness. The understudy is classic theater dull. Morticia...should be cool and sexy, not self conscious...and the lisp was hard to ignore. Fester...adorable. Pugsly...cute, but needed to be stronger. Everyone else was ok. I'm still mad at being stiffed by Nathan Lane.
